Beer gardens are open-air spaces where beer and food are served. The concept originated as Bavarian breweries planted gardens above cellars to keep their lagers cool enough to ferment underground. Many breweries turned these spaces into outdoor spaces with communal seating that serve beer and traditional food. Beer gardens may also be attached to a beer hall, pub, or restaurant. Just because a bar has a German theme and serves German beer doesn’t make it a beer garden. “Open-air” is the key word here - there is no such thing as an indoor beer garden. All pet friendly beer gardens welcome dogs at their outdoor seating areas and some even welcome dogs inside as well.
